Congratulations to these outstanding scholar-athletes!

Since 2011, in addition to honoring great former athletes and coaches from East Paterson and Elmwood Park, the Elmwood Park Athletic Hall of Fame has proudly awarded the Alfred L. Vinci Scholarships, named for one of the founding members of the Hall of Fame. Alfred L. Vinci was a life-long resident of Elmwood Park and one of the more revered teachers, coaches, mentors and administrators from the East Paterson school system.

The scholarships are annually presented to two graduating high school seniors who embody the characteristics so important to Al Vinci, excellence on the athletic field and in the classroom.  The Hall of Fame sees these scholarships as a way to maintain an important relationship with the Elmwood Park High School, recognize two exceptional student athletes from the school, and remember an important member of the Elmwood Park and Hall of Fame communities who made a life-long contribution to the youth of Elmwood Park.

Since 2017, the Elmwood Park Athletic Hall of Fame has also proudly awarded the Jack T. Cleeland Citizen Athlete Scholarship, in memory of Jack Cleeland, a life-long resident of East Paterson/Elmwood Park and charter member of the Elmwood Park Athletic Hall of Fame.  Jack Cleeland loved his town and community service and athletics were both main priorities after family.  Jack served his country as a Marine in the Pacific in WWII.  He served as a volunteer fireman, was a member of the Elks, American Legion, Zoning Board, and VFW.  He also served on the Board of Ed for over 33 years, the longest serving trustee in Borough history.  Jack was also the voice of Crusader football for 47 years.

Donations are very much appreciated and should be made to the EP Athletic Hall of Fame.

Thank you for your support of these scholarships.
